SITEMAP

This jig has different other names like Drops of Whiskey, New Drops of Brandy, Oh Mary Take My Advice, etc.

It is part of the Irish repertoire as a slip jig, but also of the English (Northumberland) and Scottish ones.

A Scottish jig from 17th century, Hey My Nanny, is known to have inspired this “Drops Of Brandy”.

It is essentially played in Scottish Country Dance (Strip The Willow): the dance is then actually named Drops Of Brandy.

I've chosen a beat closed to the one of the dance (117 bpm) which is lower than for a Scottish jig on bagpipe.
